Accessibility statement for ReferRoute
This statement applies to the ReferRoute platform and the referroute.co.uk website, operated for local authorities, schools and alternative provision providers. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this platform, whatever their role, device or assistive technology.
Our standard
We are working to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA — the standard the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 require of the public bodies we serve.
What we have done
- Every page uses semantic HTML with a declared page language, so screen readers announce content correctly.
- All functionality is available by keyboard, and interactive controls keep a visible focus indicator.
- All form fields are programmatically associated with their labels; required fields and validation errors are identified in text, not by colour alone.
- Body and interface text meets the WCAG AA contrast ratio against its background.
- The interface is responsive and usable at 400% zoom; wide data tables scroll within their own container rather than breaking the page.
- Status and risk indicators pair colour with a text label, so meaning never relies on colour alone.
Compliance status
This platform is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. The checks above come from our own review using automated tooling and manual keyboard and screen-reader testing; the platform has not yet had an independent third-party accessibility audit. We will commission one as part of onboarding our first local authority customers and update this statement with its findings.
Known limitations
- Some charts and metric tiles present numeric summaries visually; the same figures are always available in accompanying text or an exportable table, but the visual layer itself is not yet fully described for screen readers.
- PDF documents uploaded by users (for example EHC plans) are stored and served as provided — we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third-party documents.
Report a problem or request an alternative format
If you find something you cannot use, or need information from the platform in another format, contact alfred@workloft.ai. We aim to respond within 5 working days, and accessibility defects are triaged with the same priority as functional defects.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission enforces the accessibility regulations. If you are not happy with how we respond to a complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 4 July 2026 following an internal review of the platform against WCAG 2.2 AA using automated checks and manual keyboard and screen-reader testing. It will be reviewed at each significant release.
